| Dedication held at St Lukes Hospital |
 |
On July 16, 2007, the much anticipated dedication of the $33 million expansion and renovation project at St. Luke’s Hospital was held. Many who played an integral role in bringing this vision to life were on hand for the celebration. DAI and MBI worked side by side with the hospital from the project’s inception. DAI assisted St. Luke’s Hospital develop a Facility Master Plan that would enhance their healthcare delivery system and provide for the ever-increasing volume of patients served. Through careful planning and design, patients and staff are now benefiting from a more streamlined operation. MBI once again performed their magic with careful phasing of this project allowing healthcare operations to stay on track.
St. Luke’s Hospital has one of the busiest Emergency Department’s in the state. The impact is also felt in their ability to accommodate inpatient needs. The new Emergency Department allows the staff to assess a patient’s symptoms and based on the degree of acuity, direct them to the appropriate sector of the ED thereby reducing the amount of wait time. Privacy issues are better addressed through solid treatment bays walls.
As a result of the planning process and area patient volume, the Project Team recognized there was a definite need for more impatient beds. The patient tower design expansion yielded 33 rooms. Based on mounting evidence that privacy is a key element to speeding the recovery process from an impatient perspective, 19 private beds were created including six amenity rooms equipped with high-speed internet. A new cardiac catheterization laboratory suite and 112-seat amphitheatre round out this ambitious project.
