DiGiorgio Associates Inc. and Monitor Builders Inc. continued our long standing relationship with Southcoast Hospitals Group by partnering with them on a project at Tobey Hospital.  It encompasses a new 14,000 square foot Surgical Unit.  Additionally, the second floor of the addition was originally planned as shell space to allow for future expansion and eventually became a part of this project.  The resultant program is a 10-room Intensive Care unit.

Throughout the design of the project, completed in 2004, the recurring theme of efficiency of operation, optimal patient visibility by staff, and patient comfort was put into practice.  To promote a more soothing environment, elements such as a customized aquarium, atrium style waiting area, and a healing garden that strategically wraps around the front of the hospital were incorporated into the design.
