DiGiorgio Associates has worked with Christopher House Inc. on four projects over the past decade. All four projects were based on an affordable senior housing prototype design we developed for Christopher House. The flexibility of the prototype design allows for integration into each of their distinctive community surroundings.

The prototype establishes a simply organized floor plan with a central core that accommodates public spaces. Primary social activity spaces are located on the ground floor. These feature reception, administrative offices, a library, pub, dining area and activity room. Additional gathering areas are located on each resident floor to foster a community atmosphere. The resident units include a combination of studios, alcoves and one-bedrooms that are designed to encourage and enable independence and dignity. The typical residence is equipped with a galley kitchen, living area, bedroom, and bathroom with specially designed shower facilities.
