DiGiorgio Associates Inc. first provided planning and architectural services, including CoN submission assistance, for the development of a 260 bed Long-Term Care Facility. The final design yielded a two-story, freestanding structure, replacing the existing facility which had been serving the community since 1913.
To provide each resident with their own window and personal space, the design called for an innovative bi-axial arrangement. Two features that stand out are the two-story lobby with stone fireplace and chapel. Another special design is that every activity and common space is adjacent to an outdoor patio that provides an abundance of natural light and encourages outdoor activities. The 60-bed Alzheimer's unit features two nurse stations, each at the center of a circular courtyard. This allows the residents the freedom to walk the entire area freely while the staff easily maintains full observation center. |
